Start the school year with regularly scheduled instruction and then use the program periodically during the year to build prior-year foundational skills. CUwC can detect if your students are lacking in a skill through testing and bring them up to speed with recommended lessons and practice so they’re ready to acquire the grade-level skill.
Use CUwC to fill in learning gaps from the prior year to focus time expenditure on needs that come up during grade-level work. Instruction allows for issues related to unfinished learning to arise naturally when dealing with new content, allowing for just in time instruction and re-engagement of students in the context of grade-level work.
Identify learning gaps using the Grade Level Screening Test or the Unit Pre-Test, or both. Reporting indicates which students performed below the proficiency level you have established for these assessments and will recommend instruction and practice to address the learning gaps. You can preview the instruction and practice and assign them to students from the reports. You can also use your classroom observations to determine where learning gaps exist and assign lesson instruction and practice directly from the Lesson Planner. Practice is auto-scored and reported so you can see how students are performing. After students complete the recommended lesson instruction and practice for a unit, administer the Unit Post-Test. Students who are still performing below the proficiency level you have established are selected to receive additional instruction and practice by the score report for the Post-Test. You also have the option of assigning additional instruction based on score reports for the lesson practice. Reporting in the form of bar charts compares student scores and class averages on the Pre- and Post-Unit tests.
